I have all the Kaplan MCAT books for free. So i was wondering how I could use those materials when studying for my upcoming DAT. I will probably purchase some DAT specific materials, but I was just wondering what would actually be useful from the MCAT materials in my prep for the DAT.

Thanks all !

And If i wanted only a few materials that covers it all it seems DAT destroyer and some crack PAT materials will be sufficient ?

I know nothing of the MCAT, but I can't imagine prepping for the DAT without Chad's Videos, Destroyer, and Crack PAT at the minimum.

I have the Kaplan DAT course books and I have seen the MCAT books as well.

You are good to study from the Biology, Chemistry and Organic Chemistry sections of the Kaplan MCAT books. However, MCAT Biology and Organic Chem covers more information than you need to know for the DAT.

Look at the topics covered on the DAT and only study for those topics from the Kaplan MCAT books.

And of course you should also purchase DAT specific materials as well!

Thanks all, I'll use the MCAT and only review certain topics, but I ordered the destroyer package and I'll probably get crack the pat too. Then I think I'll be set

I have the DAT kaplan book for the DAT as well as all of the kaplan MCAT books, both sets are from this year and honestly they are very similar and probably identical in a lot of areas. I will say the MCAT books at times have been better because they have little mini tests at the end of each section so it's a great way to get in extra questions as well as check and make sure you really understand the info before moving on (all straight forward questions too, no passage based like what appears on the MCAT). Also, at the end of the MCAT books there's sections titled "high yield questions" that pretty much pick out the most common things you will come across. Yes some of it pertains to only the MCAT (such as passage based questions) but for the most part it's stuff that you need to know for the DAT too. Biology will be the one that differs the most, mainly because it does not include material covering plants, other animals, taxonomy, and biological diversity like the DAT does. Cliffs AP biology is really good to have around! It explains concepts on a deeper level than kaplan but still in a clear way that's easy to understand. It also has small mini tests at the end of each chapter. Hope this helps, best of luck to you!
