Hi there,

I'm studying to take the DAT in the next month and a half.
I see that everyone suggests the Destroyer books to help prepare.
Do you guys think there is much difference between the 2012 and the 2014 version of the books?
I can borrow a friends, but they're from 2012.

Just trying to decide if I need to spend the money to get the newest version.

Thanks everyone!
I love this forum!

I'm also wondering the same thing...hmm. 2012 are rather cheap right now, but the 2013-2014 versions are more pricey. decisions...decisions...

I'm using 2012 dat destroyer, I'll let you know if it was useful after August 13

I have both (I'm retaking DAT) so I can honestly tell you the 2014 has a bunchhhh more questions that were added in all of the sections. Definitely worth the investment....

One would expect a newer version of a destroyer to have additional questions.

Worth the investment?
Idk

Depends on the price difference.

Maybe the $ saved from a used purchase, can go towards, BC or chads, or what ever else, maybe a Campbell bio text book.

I heard they are fun to read.

there is a solid difference, a ton more questions are added every year, def worth the investment in my opinion

Sorry for the late response....there are honestly a bunch more questions and I really think its worth it, but thats up to you to decide, destroyer is an extremely valuable resource.

I used the 2012 version and it was excellent. If you have the money, go for the newer version. However, 2012 will get the job done!

There are HUNDREDS of added questions, so I think it would be pretty important to get the 2014.

I think that it is better getting a new one, than paying almost 400$ to retake the DAT. All materials have more questions in their new editions. You can't lose if you get a newer version.

I think the older version is fine. It's what I used. If the only difference is MORE QUESTIONS... ask yourself.. are you even going to have time to get through all those extra questions? Do you NEED those extra questions? I got through the first 10 Math Destroyer tests and I got a 21 in Math. And I HATE MATH. And I haven't taken a math course since 2010.

did a lot of your questions resemble those first 10 math destroyer tests?

As in did my DAT match the Destroyer questions? Pretty much yeah. Very similar subjects and question style. I did have one or two ridiculously hard questions, but hey. just MARK and move on, right?

I thought the DAT Destroyer was a lot harder than the actual test itself? Sorry, I know you aren't referring to me but I was just curious/worried. lol

you guys are referring to the math destroyer not the qr section of the destroyer right? haha thanks for your reply though

I was referring to Math Destroyer. It overall may have been a little harder compared to the actual thing, with more hard than easy questions. But the actual thing was a mix between easy and hard questions. The hard questions in Destroyer were on par with the harder questions on the actual test for me.

Appreciate it!

Personally, I would recommend the latest version of the Destroyer because those are the questions most similar to the ones that have been landing, the test changes every year so if you're using a 2012 version, you might miss out on some of the questions that have been landing the past two years. I'm using the 2014 destroyer and It's been serving me well. Get the latest one.
