I just took the Kaplan final and my DAT is on Sunday.

BIO: 21
CHEM: 17
OCHEM: 19
RC: 21
QR: 16 :scared:

AA: 19
PAT: 23

I am nervous about the QR...how does the kaplan QR compare to the real dAT? I am hoping to review enough tomorrow to hopefully bring that up a bit...to be honest i didn't study the math portion all that much.

How does that look? I have a 3.6/s3.5 .. :/

I think you will be fine! I wouldn't be applying to harvard, but most schools really don't care too much about the QR. Besides that 16, and the 17 in chem, everything looks fine! Some schools might have a limit of how low a score they will accept, like not below 16 or 15, but most will let you slide on that section! I had a 15 on QR, and I know of others with a similar situation, and I got accepted. It wasn't easy, I applied to 16 schools and got into 1 rather late, but over all my DAT was worse then yours! Best of luck

I've got to tell you man, I took the DAT last Friday and the QR was significantly harder than the two Kaplan tests I took. I scored 22-24 on the Kap tests and barely squeaked by with a 17 on the real QR. It was a bummer because it pulled down my academic average. Lots of stuff I didn't really see in my math studying for the DAT. Several of the word problems and probability questions were also quite a bit harder than in my study material. I felt robbed because I studied well and was getting high scores on the Kaplan QR and Crack DAT Math but there was just too much stuff I hadn't seen on the real DAT. I'm surprised (and thankfull) that I walked away with a 17.

Before I took the DAT, I basically viewed the QR as an academic average score booster....now I realize (for me) it can also be an academic average score deflater....👎

I've heard that Kaplan doesn't cover a lot of the math stuff that's on the DAT...do you think it's more similar to the ADA practice test QR maybe?

I plan to study that and cram some kaplan...hopefully be able to pull off a 17 on the real thing...

How did your other scores on the Kaplan final compare with the real DAT?

Closest thing I saw to the real QR was the mail-order sample DAT. The sample DAT on ADA's website was waaaay easier (I think I scored a 24 or 25 on the QR section). Still, I scored a 19 on the mail-order version. I was getting 22+ on Kaplan, Crack DAT and Top Score. My official DAT QR really surprised me.

Comparing the other sections of the test, my real scores were higher to significantly higher than what I got on Kaplan. But the last Kaplan test I took was a week and a half before the real thing and I did a lot of studying in that time.

I thought the real DAT was also a lot harder than Kaplan test preps. It didn't pull my score down to much but I scored 1-2 pts lower on actual than all the practice tests I had taken. All my other sections went up 1-2pts though so it balanced out

oh god...i think im gonna barf.

do you think there a chance that schools will overlook a ~15 in QR if everything else is in the 19-20ies range

If it makes you feel any better I did about the same as my Kaplan tests, and I thought the difficulty was comparable.

If you can get your hands on Math Destroyer, I think it can really help. Ask people in your Kaplan class, they might have it.

Best of luck on the test.

You'll be fine. My practice test scores were all over the map. Don't let it freak you out.

I am aiming for a 17 on the QR

I just took the free ADA practice test, timed myself and everything and got an 18. So hopefully with a little review I will be ok.

If you got an 18 on the ADA one you should be fine!!

i was getting a 15 on every QR practice test i took, but ended up with a 20 on the real thing with 8 minutes left over to check my answers 🙂 you'll be fine.
