Hey guys, this is my first post, so forgive me if I do something wrong or break any rules.

I took my DAT for the first time two days ago (8/21/18). I applied to all 3 schools in Texas and my application just got through TMDSAS this morning. Is there a typical timeline for how long it takes DAT scores to get officially posted and sent to schools via TMDSAS?

Below are my scores and I wanted to get some input from others who have been on this path for longer than me. I did better than I expected I would on everything except bio. Any thoughts on what the Texas schools will think of these scores? Will the bio and/or TS score hurt me?

FYI, I am non-traditional. I returned to college January of this year after working for 7 years, and my previous degree was totally unrelated. This is why I think the bio was hard for me. So much info, and I've only taken 8 hours of bio at this point.

Being non-trad, your scores are outstanding. I think your Bio score is high enough not to raise any red flags and as long as your GPA is average or higher, especially for any classes you’ve taken recently, it will prove to them that you are a good student and will pass all your classes and boards. I think you’ve got nothing to worry about here so long as there aren’t any other concerns within your application.

By the way, non-trad applicants do seem to get more favor because you have life experience and work experience behind you. And to change your career at this time to make the commitment to go to dental school says a lot about your desire and seriousness to return to school.

Thanks for the input guys. Hopefully things swing my way even though my application went in a little later than I would have liked.

How did you study for gen chem and organic chem????

How did you study for gen chem and organic chem????

For gen chem, I watched all of Mike's Videos on DAT bootcamp, reviewed the notes, and did practice problems.

For Ochem, I watched Mike's videos for sections I felt rusty on or didn't learn in lecture, reviewed the reactions, and did practice problems.

I have a good background in chemistry, especially gen chem. This definitely helps. I also was super fresh from O chem, I finished lecture about a week before the DAT. So those factors definitely helped. In the end, I think the most underrated study technique is just trying to really learn when you are taking your chemistry coursework in school.
