Hey Y'all, just took the DAT and not sure what to do...

I finished undergrad a few years ago, have SGPA & GPA of 3.5. I realize my Science scores are on the lower end, but do I have a shot without retaking the DAT given my other scores are decent?? Thanks for the input.

You definitely have a shot in that no scores are below cut offs. Of course being that you are at 17 which is the lowest acceptable score for most schools, your chances might not be good. Talk to your schools. I think this one isn't something most people here at SDN can call definitively.

Besides your sciences obviously your scores are top notch!

You have a shot, but you will have a much, MUCH better shot if you retake your DAT I believe. Everything is good except your TS score... your science GPA does not match up to your TS score and that might be a red flag to some schools. If you can and if you know you can do better, I vote for a retake 🙂 Be on the safe side... retake your DAT... score well... and then you won't have to waste a whole year like I had to.

You have a shot but I would probably retake. Your overall score is fine but the science scores are just too low for many schools.

I would definitely retake. Your low scores are the sciences, which are pretty easy to raise with some solid studying, and doing so will also raise your already good AA as well.

Just a comment regarding cutoffs: when I received my rejection from UoP, they specifically told me that if you had any scores 17 or below you should retake. But that's just UoP, food for thought.

Actually the ADEA book shows that a number of schools consider 17 to be their cutoff. Some have it at 16 too.

You bring up a really good point though that Sciences are pretty easy to increase. Its not like RC or PAT where some people cannot do well on, no matter how much they try. Destroyer, Cliffs and Achiever ought to do the trick for Sciences prep.

You have a shot. The more applications you send out, the more chances you will get. You GPA definitely plays a role here.

You definitely should do a retake. TS is too low. I know others are saying your GPA is good but then you are competing with them and everyone else applying so in order to have the best chance of getting in, RETAKE!

I would retake, by the way your RC score is Very Nice (borat) voice *thumbs up*

I would retake too. But your reading score is just godlike.. 👍👍👍

Sciences just are not up to par. If you feel that you can keep math and reading and pat up, then de retake. Sciences can be improved!!

I would suggest a retake because your scores are border-line for most of the schools Ive heard of. The only reason I think a retake would benefit you is because you will be more relaxed going into it again, and that alone will probably lead to higher scores in all your sections.

however, your scores aren't impossible to get accepted with (from what I hear, I'm applying myself so I'm no expert). good luck with whatever you decide!
