dat retake with 21/21/18, need inputs please!!!

i'm torn apart since i'm working full time, i don't have as much time to study as the first time, 2-3 hours daily atmost, however, i know for sure that when i reapply, they'll ask " what have you improved from last application???" in their secondaries or interview, so i'm thinking that raising the dat is one way to go. I'm working as dental assistant, so for dental experience I don't think i can do anything more. In my opinion, my weakest point(s) are: extra curr. activities, i only volunteer to teach catechism at church for several years, and my applying late last time (application was complete on Nov 19). Also, I have 3.4 cum. gpa from a state universiy, 3.9 science gpa from community college, i'm a nontraditional student. So give me some advice, i'm afraid of lowering my dat score

I personally would not mess with the DAT again(take a look at one of doctootaches thread and look at the averages for DAT, you are above at most schools!). If anything try to pick up some upper level bio/chem classes or find another volunteer opportunity if you really would like to. Even if you can only do one night class! I had very little extra curr. and volunteer experience. I was asked what has changed over past year and I talked more about personal experiences. Like reaffirming how much I really do want to become a dentist and how I have had more time to volunteer(which I did at a children's hospital).

I would advise retaking as the average PAT is a 19 now.

I agree with dds4yrs. A 21 is an excellent score, and since you said you don't have as much time to devote to DAT studying, I wouldn't try to retake it. Instead, just take a class or two of an upper level science to stay involved academically and continue to volunteer.

Yeah, with your stats, just apply early to 10-15 schools. I would say you have a good chance.

I don't know if I will trust what you are saying, honestly you haven't even posted what if you are a dentist or a dental student or your GPA or DAT. You said you've applied before but I don't how can anybody even trust what you say? I appreciate that you are giving people advice but if you are in the same boat and aren't actually in dental school or show your grades to prove it then I don't think your advice is worth **** on these boards. especially since you just joined in May.

I'm so sorry. I didn't realize I had to have my GPA and DAT scores posted like you do (...oh wait, you don't) to have people consider my advice. I mean are you serious? I have been nothing but helpful on these forums and as I already told you in another post, I have been in this situation and know what adcoms are looking for. I am just giving advice to people so that they don't make the same mistakes I did and waste time. Why would I even lie about me having applied before? Use some common sense. And who are you to say my advice can't be trusted? What makes your advice any different from mine? I'm glad you took your time to comment on my opinions that don't mean crap and I'm sure the OP appreciates you giving him the advice he started this thread for. Give me a break.

Didn't mean to hurt your feelings, but it all just seems shady to me. I wouldn't take too much of what you or anybody here says for the end all be all.
