Just some background info:

I was accepted into the Early Assurance Program at Buffalo Class of 2019. I am therefore required to achieve 20's on the DAT on the RC, AA, and PAT as well as maintain a 3.7 GPA to stay in the program. I just took my DAT and the unofficial score report read as follows:

PAT: 18
QR: 19
RC: 22
BIO: 24
GC: 20
OC:19
TS: 21
AA: 21

So the only thing I missed was the PAT and will probably be taking the test again barring any requirement changes. So I have a few questions:

1) What is the possibility that scores change between now and when I receive the official score report?
2) Does anybody have any suggestions for PAT study materials? I used Crack DAT PAT and was consistently scoring 20-21, and also used DAT Bootcamp.
3) Are these scores good enough for upper level schools given the rest of my resume:

3.9 overall GPA/ 3.87 BCP GPA
400 hours shadowing/volunteering
An organic chemistry publication and another pending publication
President of 1 club on campus, and other board positions
Several hundred volunteer hours not related to dentistry
Work ~20 hours/week at a pharmacy

Do you guys think I should explore other options, or should I just stick to the Early Assurance and retake the test? I think I should probably just retake the test but I'd like some opinions!

Thanks!

That's a shame, because it seems like pure bad luck to not have gotten a 20 on the real thing. If you want to make sure you get at least a 20, I'd practice using Achiever's PAT section. But it might be worthwhile to find somebody to buy it if all you'll use it for is the PAT section.

1) 0.01% chance
2) I only used Crack DAT PAT, so I can't help you there.
3) Don't know what you mean by "upper level schools" but your credentials seem to be good enough to get accepted into plenty of schools.

thanks for the input! I'll give achiever a try! Maybe that will do the trick!

I figured there was virtually no chance. Schools that I am applying to include:
University of Florida, North Carolina, Pitt, Maryland, Stony Brook, Columbia, and NYU.

First of all, that blows man. That's a great DAT score. You'll be fine getting in IMO, but if you're set on Buffalo I'd look into DAT Qvault's PAT section. It was all I used and I think it's markedly better than Crack the DAT.

Honestly, you should have zero problem getting interviews.

Yeah I know it stinks just to have to retake the test for one section! But thanks for the advice I'll give it a try! Buffalo is the best choice for me because I'm in state so if I can stay in there I think that's where I'll end up. I can also still apply normally if I don't get the scores.

Bummer about the PAT score! I'm sure if you went at it again you'd crush it. I think achiever is the way to go for PAT, I wouldn't have scored nearly as well on that section without it. The three test version should probably suffice.

Stony brook is another realistic in-state option, especially with those killer GPAs. How does the 3+4 program work in terms of applying to other schools? Can you apply all over and still hold your buffalo acceptance in the bank, if you're not offered any other enticing options?

I will definitely give achiever a try! Thank you!

The early assurance is a little different from the 3+4 program, so with the early assurance I can still apply to other schools and hold the acceptance which is good for exploring options.

I wouldn't retake...your stats look well above average.

But to answer your first question, the probability that your score changes before the "official" report is zero to none.

Thanks for the input. I don't think anyone wants to take that test a second time but I want to keep all of my options open.

Those aren't "upper level" schools. Some of them just happen to be slightly more competitive than the national avg. Acceptance rates don't always inversely correlate with education quality.

Hey all,

So I took the DAT again the other day and these are my new scores:

PAT 25
RC 28
QR 19
Bio 19
GC 26
OC 19
TS 21
AA 22

So I did end up getting the scores needed to stay in the early assurance program! I did everything I did to study last time except this time I used DATqvault for the PAT section as well as the 3 test version of Achiever, which both really helped.

Thanks for your help guys!
