Hello! I also had DAT recently. I am Rutgers Uni graduate with 3.61 GPA.
My scores:
OC:21
Gen Chem: 20
Biology: 21
PAT: 21
RC: 18
QR:17
TS: 21
AA:19
Can anyone please give me an honest opinion about my score and my chances? So nervous 🙁🤔🤔
Would have definitely got 20 AA...if had not miss 6 questions on QR. I am not a native English speaker and I moved to US after my high school..So not good at RC. I am going to post what I used and how much studies I had for preparation.
Thanks in advance!

In all honesty, it's a little low. The standards to get in are rising with the increasing number of dental students so a 20+ would give you a better cushion.

To improve your application you can always go out and get hundreds of hours of volunteering and shadowing (I'm talking 800+ hours), organization and leadership involvement, research, good personal statement, and good letters of recommendation.

But if you're trying to apply this cycle and don't have a lot of extracurriculars, it will be quite difficult, but if you are applying this cycle I'm sure you'll get an interview or two and you'll just have to work on your interview skills.

I think you're totally fine. Your science score isn't low. You're right on par with most accepted dental students and your GPA is great. Take SDN scores with a grain of salt--they represent a minority.

I could not have said it better myself DentalGirl5!

Those are very nice scores with an excellent GPA. You are in the NYC area and I see no reason you would not get interviews and acceptances in that area.

Those are good scores. Those combined with your GPA and assuming the rest of your application is good you should get interviews.

I think people reading the dat breakdowns on here is a double edged sword because most people that get accepted are NOT getting 24+ AAs like posted here.

Agreed!

Quoted for Truth. Listen to this wise person by the name of DentalGirl5.

What. 800 hours? I hope that's not the average amount needed....because I only have 20% of that, and I won't stand a chance in the regular cycle.

I second that it's a little low. The most important score to schools is usually the AA, and the AA of the average accepted student is a 20. This doesn't mean you don't have any chance of getting in, it does mean that the DAT part of your application is weaker than ideal and puts you at a slight disadvantage in one area.

I remember passing by some school that has a cut off specifically for their RC but I think it was around 16. Your AA and TS is good, just make sure to check if the school you're applying to has any DAT cut offs.

I think its pretty good! Make sure you have a good amount of shadowing hours!
