I just took my DAT and was wondering if I should retake it or not? And if I were to, is there a specific margin I need to improve my score by? Im pretty sure this question is asked a countless number of times, but if you can answer it just one more time that would be awesome!! Thanks

Most people would say yes, reason being lowest accepted rc score is a 17.
Gpa plays a large factor also

IMO retake because the RC will limit the schools which will be open to you as they do cutoff....also ppl are pretty obsessed over the check back dec 3rd right now so not sure if you will get many responses...

If your GPA is 3.5+, have lots of money to apply to 15+ schools, don't care what dental schools you get into then no retake.

NOPE. Even schools that DO say they have cutoffs, they still accept those with below cutoffs.

Retake it. RC is terrible but you can bring it up. Look up some search-and-destroy techniques. Read the question and skim the passage for the answer.

I am simiular scores, 18/19/23 but a 17 in RC. I don't plan on retaking because studying for that exam was horrible!! Lol so if you are applying next cycle I would give it a go. If you don't get in take that gap year and retake without the pressure of school. And bring your ECs up! Good luck buddy I am rootin for ya

We literally got the same exact scores in every section except reading comp. I think you should retake to bring up your RC score. To me it really helped bring up my AA. But that's just my opinion. If you don't think you have the time to retake, there is nothing wrong with your scores if you have a 3.6+ GL 🙂

I would retake..you would give yourself a better shot at a $200,000 education instead of a $400,000 one.
P.S. the interest u will pay on a $200,000 loan over 15 years is $150,000..

You call me a nerd, but you have a 4.00 CC GPA and around a 3.7/3.8 university GPA? We're pretty similar, buddy. Well, unless you count the fact that I didn't even study as long as you did for the DAT, and I still scored higher, which would make YOU the nerd.

OP: Retake the DAT.

Calm down ppl. We trying to help this OP out here... not bag on each other.

OP can do w/e he wants, we are here to give advice to what he should do. You already gave him the advice to not retake it, while many others have told him to retake it. You did your deed and now let him take in all the opinions and make his own.

OP: I would retake the DAT to raise that RC as well. In the end, it can't really hurt you, just study hard and maybe you can raise all your Sciences and AA as well. Thats not bad. But in the end, its whether you want to put the time of studying into taking it again. Good Luck with either decision.
