Since you are a new member, I'll go ahead and let you in on a little secret: SDN scores are always higher than the average. Maybe it's because we are a bunch of nerds, sitting around on the computer, maybe some people are proud of their scores (and rightfully so) and feel the need to "show them around" (although to be conceded necesssarily) or maybe other factors play a role. Anyhow, SDN scores are generally +2, +3 or more above national averages.

Don't worry, shoot for the average score (or better) for the schools you are looking at and then apply.

SDN scores are higher than the general population. Just do your best.

people seeking out a site like this may have more drive than some other people...maybe higher scores. or if you do score high, you are more likely to post your scores...

just do the best you can. dont let the scores you see here intimidate you too much, it is possible to get in with less than a 22...

good luck and God bless

I first noticed that SDN was a way smarter percentage of students when I read up on ACS test scores. In my Organic class, a great deal of students got 35-40/70 questions. But as I saw on SDN, many of these students got 60+ and some even 100%. That's when I realized that people on this website are much smarter and work very hard.

Plus, many of these high DAT scores want to go to their state school or an IV league. So they are not always your direct competition.

Hehe seeing these scores and other competitors' worries.. keep the fire in me burning 😀. I know they don't exactly represent the actual population of the applicants.. but at least i know what i'm up against 🙂... so i expect the worst and an ugly fight

I think it is good for us to see a bunch of high scorers roll through this forum. If they can do it, we can right? They put in the time, that's what it takes.

If it makes you feel better, think about 13,000-14,000 people that take the DAT each year. How many good scores do you see on here - 100? Although the adcoms might not look at the percentiles, they are what they are.

If an 18 is in the 88th percentile - than that 18 is better than 88% of people you are competing against.

Plus, people who get good scores want to brag a little ... not to many people gonna show off the lower scores.

Plus the people here on SDN get tips and advice from each other all the time on study methods, practice materials, how long to study, etc. so it is good to have a support system. People who are not on SDN may not be aware of all the material that is out there to help them succeed on the DAT.
