Hi everyone,

I took my DATs in May and only scored average (18) so I'm going to take my DATs again in Aug. my gpa isn't that great either (~3.0). I want to submit my app as early as possible but will my avg. DAT scores be looked at when my app is reviewed and hurt my chances of getting my app reviewed again? Should i submit my app in june or should i just wait to submit my app in july-aug so that my 2nd set of DAT scores can be reported too? does anyone know exactly how the app reviewing process works?

thanks in advance! 🙂

If you know you are gonna kick ass on the DAT, i would submit your app asap. When your new scores get to the schools (Make sure they get there at the same time or before your app does) they will see a nice upper trend.

I had a friend with a 3.9 GPA, and a 22 on the DAT, he applied a month late and didn't get an interview until april. He wasn't officially accepted until 3 weeks before school started. On the other hand, I know guys that got 18's with 3.4 and they had 7 interview, and accepted Dec. 1st.
APPLYING EARLY IS SOOO IMPORTANT. More so than anything else I think...

...if you apply with a 3.0 and an 18 AA, YOU WILL NOT GET IN THIS YEAR. I have several friends that applied with 3.1-3.3's and 19-20'sAA on June 1 at 12:01am and did not get in. Wait until you take the DAT for the 2nd time, because ALMOST EVERY SCHOOL WILL TRASH YOUR APPLICATION WHEN THEY SEE YOUR FIRST SCORES/GPA'S AND IT WON'T MATTER IF YOU TAKE THE DAT AGAIN IN AUGUST BECAUSE YOU WILL HAVE ALREADY BEEN BLACKLISTED....and anyone who disaggrees with me is just trying to be nice to you. 👍

applying early always helps but its no guarantee that you will get in to a particular school depending on what gpa or dat score you have. Of course if you have high stats you do have greater chances of getting in somewhere but remember its about the overall applicant. Just b/c someone with a 3.0 and 18aa you cant say he/she won't get in anywhere. Personal statement, LOR's, interview, and volunteer work all play a role too. Just don't let anyone bring you down just b/c they have 20+ scores, people do still get in with lower scores due to the overall applicant. 😉

i concur that applying early matters. granted its not the onlyyyy thing. i do think that different schools emphasize different things. focus on having the total package. a well balanced application. LOR, scores and numbers, experience, personal statement. dont think that something wont make a difference, b/c it does.
