Hello, I won't take the Dat untill next year but when I have time I try to get some studying in with the Kaplan blue book.

Good job on the first practice without studies you must be good at math. I wish you all the best, but you really need to work on the gchem and ochem. I am sure you will do fine. Why take the DAT september? When are you applying for FALL 09 or 2010?

I plan to apply next year (2010)... but since i have nothing to do this summer, i decided to study for the DAT now instead of during the school year. I dont think I can handle schoolwork with DAT (next quarter I am taking 4 science courses). I had a quick question... does anybody know if I take the test in september, get rejected for 2010, and decide to take a 2 year masters program and then apply to dental school, will the DAT count???

hey guys, can anyone tell me what TS or AA stand for? and what category of the DAT it falls under?

Thank you much and GL with your studying!

Sure, TS stands for Total Sciences. It is your score from the survey of natural sciences section (bio, chem, orgo). AA stands for Academic Average which is the average of your Total Sciences section, QR (math section), and RC (reading comp section).

Your AA and your PAT averages help you determine what schools you are qualified to apply to. hope that helps

Hi everybody, I want to start studying soon like all of you but i was debating wether i should take the Kaplan Online course or not... Has anyone had any previous experience with it, can i just do kaplan blue book instead?? Please let me know your inputs and mighty good luck to you all....

Bobby

Save your money and buy all the reading material you need such as kaplan blue book, destroyer, Shaum's outline for biology, Cliff's AP, Achiever and Top Score. Good luck!!

For the past couples weeks I have purely been doing PAT questions and QR questions. I just started practicing drawing lines on wood for the carving section. I don't take the test until november, since I'm in Canada, which it will also be my first time writing the test 😱. I think i'm pretty worried now since I'm only getting 18's, 19's and 20's on all my practice between the PAT and QR.
Do you guys think I should start to move on to reviewing the sciences, since I haven't taken organic chemistry yet, as I am only entering my second year :scared:.

hey guys. how are you guys taking the practice exams...are you spreading them out or taking them all at the end? thanks!

Both 🙂 I'm taking a few spread out over the next few weeks but then I have 3 others I am taking one or two days after the other up until test day. I want to slowly gain stamina with the exams and see my weakest areas (So I still have study time), and then really set myself up with a few back-to-back to really get into gear for test day!

I'm taking practice exams the last 3 weeks before the DAT. Right now I'm doing Kaplan's course, so I'm doing the quizzes and subject tests. I'm also trying to do one full Crack test a week.

Well as far as practice tests go, I only bought Topscore, so I only have three tests. I decided to take one as a diagnostic and did okay. Three weeks later I took the second one to gauge my progress. I did pretty well but know I have to continue to improve the sciences. This week Ill study science and on the weekend I will slowly go through the first two Topscore tests to fully understand all the answers. The weekend before the exam I will take the third test and go over the correct answers. In case you were wondering Im taking my DAT july 19.

Honestly, I dont understand the whole taking tests straight before the actual DAT. Once you have taken a few, even if they are spead out over a few weeks, you will be comfortable with the test. spreading them out also gives you the advantage of targeting your weak areas. Good Luck man!

Just want to make a quick note for everyone. Keep your heads up. I took my first practice test in natural sciences from Acheiver and did miserable. Keep in mind that I really have not been focused on studying. There have been a lot of personal distractions with family.

Anyways.......I looked at the scores and compared those to my ACTUAL DAT scores from last year and I am right about the same. So I am not fretting to much. But knowing that I can do WAAYY frickin better makes me motivated and driven to make the dream of becoming a dentist a reality.

I am currently studying Fridays, Saturdays, Sundays about 10-12 hours and 2-3 hours each day Monday-Thursday (I work 40 hours a week M-TH 9-7).

I have all the material that I need. So I am buckling down and doing this thing. Not only for me but for all those who doubt the capabilities of someone that is determined to persevere.

I LIKE THIS IDEA 🙂 . I just finished my first year in college, I managed to get chem and bio out of them way 🙂 i wanted to squeeze genetics in this summer but i cudn't, stupid student parking tickets put holds on my account. i finished reading the kaplan book(except for orgo)...so far, the chem is straightforward, however, i find the bio to be useless. I never bothered to remember anything from bio2, it was completely useless information that i thought i would never have to use in my life, i was hoping the DAT would be geared towards cellular bio...BOY WAS I WRONG😱...I want to know which book is the best for bio...i feel so unprepared...i plan on taking the DAT in aug 09...but ima just gonna drill myself till then...GLUCK EVERYONE😀👍

I am BACK!!!!!! JUST took the DAT aiming for a 20 minimum ended up with an AA of 18. I will post later on my score break down!!!!
