My plans for studying for the DAT were to study for one whole month over christmas break and then take the DAT, but after hearing some stories i'm not sure if that is enough time? I just wanted to know what other people think about only studying for a month. My overall/science GPA is not very high and that is why I want to make sure I do really well on this test (like a 23 or 24). I was thinking if one month isn't enough i would take maybe only one or two classes in the spring semester so my workload isn't too heavy and that will still allow me to study for the DAT and then i could maybe take it in march?

Just want to hear what people think would be a better plan and if it's possible?
Also if my science gpa is around a 3.1 and overall 3.4 what DAT score should i aim to get in order to stand a strong chance of getting into to dental school... or an interview?

THANKS!

I plan on studying during winter break too.
5-8 hours a day for 30 days.... I wont take it unless Im ready
maybe Ill even study two weeks into spring semester bc the workload dosnt come in till 3 weeks into the semester
I think you have a great chance at getting in if you get a 21+
You have the average accepted GPA. Just get an above average DAT score like a 20+ and if your extra currics and LORs are good ull b more than fine

Goodluck

I'm doing the same thing. If my scores on the practice material aren't where I want them to be, I'll postpone. I think 1/1.5 months is more than enough if thats literally all you're focusing on, though I won't have much credibility until I take them and score well

I think 23 / 24 is really high, you have to think a little more realistic. Maybe a 20 over the christmas break is do-able.

I think getting a 23 in a one month span is very doable. I worked hard for a month and got a 25, and by no means am I the smartest person. I'm also not very hardworking, but I did work very hard during the one month span to get that score (~10 hours/day).

I'm sure luck was also on my side, but if it wasn't, then I would have scored a 22-23. Doable? Yes.

One month of pure focus on the DAT is definitely doable to do good on the DAT. You will need to have a lot of focus and don't get too wrapped up with the holidays if you want a 23-25.
Personally I think aiming for a 20+ is more than sufficient for most dental schools. Once your accepted somewhere your DAT score wont matter anymore
