Hello!

I just took my DAT today (1/17/2015) and the scores are:
PA 23
QR 24
RC 20
BIO 20:arghh:
GC 24
OC 29:cat:
TS 23
AA 23

I am a Biochemistry major/chemistry minor and I have about oGPA= 3.67 and I am not quiet sure about my science gpa. I think it's around 3.6 but I don't know where to calculate it. Anyways, I worked a part-time job all through freshmen and sophomore and then started the research in my junior year and continuing the same research as of today. I shadowed about 140-150 hours (started in my junior year until now) and I am a committee member in the predental club of my university. However, I do not have any continuous volunteering hours, except for the fact that I work as a panel member for our school's honor court system. What would be my chance of getting into ANY of dental schools in the east coast ? Thanks in advance!

I am sorry guys if I asked such a stupid question. I really didn't wanted to offend anyone (or to just show off) but I do see a lot of people on SDN getting crazy scores with crazy gpas and many volunteering hours so I really didn't have anywhere else to ask about my stats. Thank you guys for the comment though. I really appreciate it!

(I didn't get my percentile on my score sheet though, which is kind of weird..)

Nobody on here knows what the selection committee at a particular dental school will decide.

Frowny-face with a 20?

Not sure where you see that at. Maybe the premed forums? Cause those cats are crazy over there. Almost like they're fake.

Frowny face is there because I thought compared to other two science scores, it is not as good and schools might see that as a downside.. Also I do see people with 3.7 and 3.8 gpas and also 24 and 25 AA. It is not in the premed, I saw it in the dental forum section. I want to say this again that I was really not trying to make people compliment me. It just made me nervous before going through the application cycle soon just like everyone so I just wanted to ask what my chances were. I guess I was being too arrogant and I really did not mean to... I'm sorry🙁 I would delete this post but it doesn't let me.

And yes, those pre-med people are crazy 😛

Be mindful when posting something like this- ur GPA is averaging an A in addition to ur amazing DAT score of 23.

Btw Ur stats are really really good so don't be nervous about ur chances. Just apply early and keep doing well (n maybe more volunteering) good luck!

you are good to go, in way better shape than a lot of people lol.
Just keep volunteering and possibly shadowing and get good LORs.
Good job, but remember that number isn't everything.

I see people getting in with 18~ 19 DAT left and right and people with super high DAT's not even getting interviews.

Thanks everyone! I will make sure next time to be careful about posting something like this.

I totally understand the fact that number is not everything. This is kind of what I am getting afraid of. I have some downsides of my own. Rather than being a citizen, I only have a green card and since English is my second language, I do not have good interview skills. I am afraid that my volunteer hours are not acceptable as well. Anyways, I really appreciate your comment.

Yes, I will be mindful next time but thank you for the advice on the volunteering. I really need some right now but I have a back problem.. I guess I need to just work something out. Thank you🙂

Being a permanent resident or citizen does not make a big difference in getting acceptance if i recall correctly. If you were an international student with student visa, that might be a different story, but with a green card, you shouldn't worry.
As far as interviewing skills are concerned, I cannot say much because I have not been accepted yet, just don't portray yourself as someone who you are not. Tell them who you really are.

Do some mock interviews with or without someone helping you. Thinking about it in your head what to say and actually saying in front of someone are different, so if you can practice, that will help, too.

I think you have a great chance. Apply early and broadly and you will get in somewhere most likely.
