Do I chose when I take the test or the ADA will schedule a test for me?

And I am thinking about taking DAT on August and then apply. Is it too late? Is there more beneficial to take on July and apply early?

Unfortunately, you don't get to choose when you take the test. The ADA shows up at your house in an unmarked van with no advance warning and you have to take the DAT on the spot.

So if I pay for DAT filling out the application form on ADA website TODAY, they might send me DAT date of June or July?

Nah I'm just messing with you. You choose the date you want to take the test through the Prometric website, based on that testing center's availability. From the date your eligibility begins (which I believe is within a few days of you registering), you have a 6 month window to pick a date from.

haha thanks

Would you comment on my second question?
Should I study a month less and apply a month earlier?

Hi Esjung,

The best advice I can give any student is, DO NOT take the DAT until you are fully prepared. Rushing to take the test before you are fully prepared often ends in disaster. We have 150 students that will attend our DAT course this summer in NYC, our course ends Mid August and students take the exam from Mid August through early Sept. If they have adequate DAT scores and GPA they will receive interviews and acceptances. If you feel prepared in July take the test but if you need more time always best to reschedule.

Good luck in your studies and on the DAT

Nancy,

Thanks for the advice. I appreciate that!

I've struggled with this too; my advisor says to be safe, it is good to take it by the end of June (which I am!) But yet, there are many people who are testing in July and August, and like Orgoman22 stated in previous posts, a good amount of students still get accepted within this time frame. I know GPA has a lot to do with this, but surely, to what extent? I guess it depends, but I think no harm can be done calling specific schools perhaps? If I'm to guess, I don't think July will destroy your chances or ruin you significantly!
