DC Get Together--who's interested??

Hey everyone,
As of right now, who's planning on being in DC
in August and is interested in a get together?
Also, anyone from the area have some suggestions?
Last time I was in DC, I went to this place called the Blue Room..really nice. Any thoughts?

I will be in DC by July 28th and am definitely down for a get-together. I grew up in DC but moved away when I was 17 so things have changed a little bit in terms of the bar scene. The best place for us to meet would be somewhere in Adams Morgan, which is where there are a lot of nice lounges, bars, etc. A little more upscale than the undergrad bars right near Georgetown. I'll call my girlfriends back in DC and get their suggestions on a place to meet. Maybe a good time would be the first weekend in August? What do you all think?

Hey all...it would be cool to get together in DC! But I too think that the 1st weekend in August may be too early.

How soon are you guys planning to be there?
I'm coming from NY and will be attending GWU...and while NY isn't that far away, I don't have housing sorted out just yet.

I suggest the Common Share. It's a little hole-in-wall bar between Dupont and Adams Morgan (unfortunately it's bceom very trendy and overcrowded on the weekends), but they have dollar beers (and other drinks are also super chear) all of the time.

Mid-August would be a good time to catch everyone from different schools. GW doesn't start til late August. I wish I could help out with places to suggest, but I'm from CA, born and raised. :wink: Looking forward to meeting some new faces.

I definitely think a bar/resturant is a great idea. I am aiming for August 15th (thurs) or 16th (fri). Does anyone have any objections to those dates?

Yeah, you guys are right. The first week of August might be a little early. Can we wait until Georgetown gives us our exact Orientation schedule before we decide because I think we have activities planned every day from Wed Aug 14th through Sun Aug 18th? I heard rumors about some evening activities too but I'm not sure if that's definite or not. As soon as I get the schedule I will post again. I am definitely looking forward to meeting you all in person...

Right now I am in LA for the summer. I think you are going to like in DC so don't worry. I guess I will see you in Aug. I am part of the orientation committee so I will be a group leader there. PM me if you have any questions.

Adams Morgan, Dupont, and Georgetown are all pretty easy to get to and have a lot of bars and restaurants.

I will call them next tuesday (being that this is an holiday weekend) to see if anything has changed in my status. Where did you find a place (close to the school)? Two bed or one and how much? Hi All!

I will be attending Howard and would love to meet some other med students who are gonna be in the DC area. I am originally from CA but for the last two years have been in Philly.

I know nothing about the night life in DC but it sounds like an interesting city.

By the way is any driving thier car from westcoast to DC or am I just really crazy for attempting it?

What's up with the DC get together thing? I'll be arriving in DC on August 17th, and will be driving my car from the west coast beginning next week -- I'm making this a long road trip, visiting friends on the way.
