DDS to DO

This forum made possible through the generous support of SDN members, donors, and sponsors. Thank you.
I don't know anyone who has done it...seems like too much schooling. But, if you are looking at saving time, perhaps one of the DO schools that also has a DMD program may be able to offer you advanced status, but that is just a guess. I know NOVA Southeastern has a DO/DMD dual degree program: http://medicine.nova.edu/dodmd/

Thanks, I was looking at LECOM because of the 3 year program. I'm sure the MCAT will be fun after not taking a basic science course since 2000!

If it interests you, the introductory course to osteopathy in the cranial field (whether held by the Cranial Academy or SCTF) is open to DDS. One of the attendees was a DDS when I took it over the summer.

I don't know anyone who has followed this exact path, but I do have RNs, a PA, and a pharmacist in my class! It's not unusual to enter medicine from other health-related fields in my opinion.

Thanks everyone! OMS doesn't necessarily have to get an MD degrees - there are 4 year certificate programs after DDS.
