im curious to see how many people deal with any type of medical illness which is recurring ( or mental illness) that you thought would prevent you from being able to do medical school, and if so what have you done to reach your goal, and how do u think it will make you a better doctor ( D.O.)

I have had my own issues with a chronic physical illness over the last several years plus seeing my mother suffer with chronic illnesses throughout my life. I can't say how it has effected me yet in med school cause I start in the Fall. I do know it has had a positive impact on my life. I currently work on the nursing staff of a indigent clinic. I feel I am able to empathize more than others I've observed, or maybe it is just my personality as a "bleeding heart liberal." 🙄
