For anyone who knows,

When people say, "Dean's Letters go out November 1st" does that mean that at 12:00am November 1st Dean's letters are available for downloading by program directors or does it mean that on November 1st medical schools spend the day uploading the Dean's Letters?

I know this sounds anal - the reason I'm asking is because I'm still waiting on 2 SLORs (I currently have 1 SLOR and 1 non-EM letter in). If they don't come in by tomorrow I'm going to use my backup letter from IM so that my application will be complete. I need to know how long I can wait for the SLORs before I have to use that backup letter. Any info will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

when i check on ERAS my dean's letter (MSPE) is already loaded as i can see it when i click on "track applications" and then select any of the residencies that i applied to. it shows the date and time it was uploaded and then says "available, but not yet retrieved" under the "downloaded by program" column. i confirmed this with the support staff in academic affairs at my school as well.

so the dean's letter is there and ready...i guess programs are just on the honor system to begin downloading once we flip over into the month of november. maybe it's electronically locked right now and gets unlocked at 12am on Nov 1.?

BKN is a program director on here and should be able to shed some light.

The MSPEs are in the post office but will not transfer until after 12 am Nov 1st. So the first time I sign on after Nov 1st, I should get this huge load of documents. The ERAS folks say that they'll do about 1.5 million document transfers in the first 48 hours of the month. They've added more computer resources after last year but don't be surprised if things go slow when you log on.
