CORD released a statement backed by all the other EM organizations to ask the AAMC to terminate the study of the SVI. That didnt take long. It was a useless score that just made students anxious and I doubt many, if any, programs ever used.

I thought that Step 2 CS originally came about to ensure foreign medical graduates had appropriate clinical skills. Eventually, courts ruled that requiring only FMG's to take the test was discriminatory and so now everyone has to go through it.

Recently had my first interview, the PD goes “we want to show you all the algorithm we use for ranking” and pulls up a rubric slide that has SVI score as 80%, step 1 as 10% and sloes 10% - room goes dead silent. Look of terror on all the applicants.

Then all the faculty just burst out laughing...
