Whether you worry or not, the outcomes of December 1st will not change.
True this^^^^
People, don't despair. Key to success is patience. If this cycle is not your cycle, think about what went wrong. Think what you think didn't stand out on your app and what you could do to make it better for next cycle. I'm not saying to give up, cause like I said before, it all depends on the schools that you applied to. But, I've heard of 4.0 students that weren't called for interviews cause their LORs were terrible or because they didn't have enough volunteer/shadowing hours... So, things besides GPA and DAT scores... I've also heard that it was because people applied to late for their chosen schools... So, too many factors... But only we can control a few... Stay positive! Good things are ahead of us! 😉
I don't intend to brag, but I do consider myself an excellent applicant with research, service, shadowing, close recommenders, unique PS, and motivated pursuit of dental school. Despite my 3.5 GPA and 7th batch, I can't think of one thing I would change for next cycle. Like every other applicant, I hope there won't be a next cycle.
Maybe the reason is I only apply public schools which are hard to get in and their process are slow - I comfort me use the such kind of reason.![]()
Hooly... When I first read through this thread I glanced over it and did not find grammatical and sentence structuring awkwardness from ywcywc's posts. Because my brain, and like most of other people's brains, are trained to thread words together in a way that makes sense. Brushing a fine comb over ywcywc's threads I just realized his english does suffer a lot of awkwardness grammatically. Maybe it showed through his personal statement. Again, this is in no way an attack, just also advice on how his application can be improved. This is not derogatory, disrespectful or meant to cause any kind of upset to anyone, but your English seems to be quite broken. Do you think that has something to do with it? Did you make sure you had people read over your PS and essays and descriptions of activities?
Haha lets all get depressed up!Same here.. let's all be stressed out together..

I hope the same thing! Geez... I could not imagine going through this all over again! Like you, I feel like I'm very competitive but, IF things don't come up as expected, I would try to do things to improve my application. In my case, I would retake the DAT, I would continue with my volunteer service, I would keep busting my behind this upcoming semester, as so on... We are not perfect, and there's always room for improvement. We should always be willing to learn from experiences, stay strong, and keep pursuing our goals no matter what 😉
I do not think the English of my PS is a problem. It is prefect.
Perhaps you are overqualified then.
The professor who interviewed me expressed the same thoughts:
Do you think about medical school? No. I am hand-man, and I am good at observing , finding solution, and using my hand to fix the problems. I really want to be a dentist. I think medical school do not fit me.
He said, that is not true. Medical school has medical surgery, like neurosurgery, which fits you better. Dentistry is just easy.
I said, I want to be best dentist. I will practice more so that I can help people to improve their oral health.
He said, he believes I can. Since all stats are prefect. (He keep on say my stats is prefect. He say this many times, five times? 7 times? )
I said, no, I am just o.k. I think I have lots of room to improve. I will continue to do good job at dental school.
I KNOW WHAT I CAN DO AND I KNOW I AM NOT SMART ENOUGH TO BE A BEST DOCTOR, AND I JUST WANT BE A GENERAL DENTIST, BUT SEEMS THEY DOUBT IT. THIS IS THE REASON I AM WORRYING.
Perhaps all dental schools have joined together upon receiving your application, and decided to not accept you in hope of that you will turn away from dentistry and become a medical doctor to save this world. Just kidding. Look, you have an interview. I am sure you have been a very attractive candidate for that school. I would tell others to be cautious when applicant with average scores applying at this point, but I wouldn't be worried about you at all.The professor who interviewed me expressed the same thoughts:
