Hi. I am confused about how the decision process works. I read in the ADEA guide that if the schools accept us, it gives us a month to decide whether to accept their offer. If we decide to accept their offer, does this remove our application in other schools that we haven't received a pre-december interview? (i.e. making it mandatory to attend that school?) Also, does making the deposit after acceptance allow us to hold that place until we decide not to go to that school? Can you hold multiple hold positions at different schools?

No it does not remove your application from other schools, and the second thing about holding acceptances is not exactly how it works. For example, let's say pre december you get an interview from school A, and post december you get an interview from school B. If you get accepted from school A, then you have 30 days to pay the usually non-refundable $1000 deposit that holds your acceptance at that school, if you get accepted to school B, then you must forfeit the $1,000 deposit from school A, and then pay a new deposit $1,000 deposit at school B. If you get an acceptance from school C, then again, you must forfeit your deposit from school B, and then pay a new deposit at school C.
** Side note - The deposits are not always $1,000, every school has a specific deposit and sometimes they are partly refundable.

Also, you definitely should not hold numerous acceptances at different schools, that is a very easy way to lose acceptances from both schools. Schools check acceptance lists at other schools and it is very frowned upon to hold acceptances from numerous schools.

Thank you for your response. I did some research before your response and found this.

"Applicants Holding Positions at Multiple Institutions. Starting April 1, dental schools report to ADEA AADSAS the names and identification numbers of candidates who have paid a deposit, hold a position in a dental school entering class, or both. After April 5, ADEA AADSAS reports to each institution the names of candidates for its entering class who hold acceptance(s) at additional institutions. A dental school may rescind an offer of admission to a candidate who has paid deposits to or holds positions at multiple institutions. If the dental school chooses to withdraw this candidate from the entering class, the dental school must give the candidate a minimum 15-day notice."

I am not intending to hold multiple spots but I am still waiting on some interviews from other schools before deciding.
