Hi there!
First post actually, but I just recently took the DATs and have received the scores of
Bio-20
GChem- 23
OChem- 23
PAT23
RC- 17 🙁
QR- 19
AA- 20
TS- 22
What I'm mostly afraid of is how much emphasis they put on the reading comp scores (which I heard is a decent weight). Do my PAT and TS scores make up for this poor score, or should I try to retake within the year? My GPA is also not on the high end (3.35) and the schools I'm trying to shoot for are USC, UOP, Western, NYU, and UDM. Also have done a lot of extracurriculars, shadowed 100+ hours, and working as a Dental Assistant at the moment. Do I have a shot?

yes...you have a chance. Just apply broadly. I would probably retake to increase my score, but you do have a chance

Question is, is this part of a larger theme; what are your grades in your English classes? (not asking you to out yourself here, just think about it). If these are also weak, it is harder to dismiss your RC as a "fluke". If English is not your native language this might be something of a mitigating circumstance...which you could mention in your PS as something you've had to overcome.

Also, those are really good scores and should get you several interviews.

I'm not sure about the other school you listed, but UOP will most likely not accept a 17 for RC. WHat method did you use for the RC portion?
