So.. after spending an entire semester retaking 4 classes and getting my sGPA from a 2.72 to a 2.82, I realized that it still isn't enough. I plan to retake my bio 400 level class and my physics 2 class (in which, I got C's). Hoping and will work hard for an A in both classes!! And, this should put me at:

3.29 cGPA
3.06 sGPA

and this is after retaking like 6 classes 🙁 It's such a pain in the butt! But, there is nothing else I can imagine doing besides medicine. So, I guess I just got to suck it up!
I have also started to study for the MCAT starting 2 weeks ago:joyful: hoping to get more than a 28… I spend about 7-8 hours a day studying, so i'm trying!!
Oh! I'm also 6 months pregnant… Yes, I know, you are probably thinking, whelp… there goes her medical career. But, I am more than determined to get into a DO school! I will be doing a spring semester… May 1st will be the end of final exams. May 7th, I deliver! plan to study all the way through and take the MCAT sometime in June or maybe April (if I'm feeling ready enough….mentally and physically!).
After writing this, I realized this sounds more like venting in a journal more than a post on a medical forum lol womp anyways! wish me luck guys!:cat:

Do what you gotta do. Destroy the MCAT. Apply Early. You'll get in. Don't worry holmes.

Increase hours studying to 10-12, and that'll be about your life every day in med school.

You're low on the GPA and most of it is due to taking classes a second time around, which one would expect you get an A. I don't know if 28 would cut it to make it into medical school with the competition out there.

I don't want to discourage you, but if I were to have a newborn right now (as a male), I wouldn't be going to medical school. I would strongly recommend you either find another profession or wait a few years.

Strongly believe you can do anything you put your mind to. Your situation sounds incredibly challenging but if it's truly what you're passionate about, then go for it. Your GPA is obviously on the low side. Do whatever you can to get to your science GPA above a 3.3 and apply broadly. A C in physic's 2 is of course not a positive, but I would say taking an additional upper level science course(s)(and of course doing well) would be more valuable to Adcoms. O and of course smoke that MCAT. You CAN do it if you want it bad enough! Good luck!

Just know that the first two months after having a baby are extremely exhausting. I would not plan a June MCAT with a May delivery. If you can take the test before the baby I would strongly encourage that route. I took the MCAT 5 months after have a baby with major complications and didn't feel rested or ready.

Taking the exam before you deliver will probably be best, but since you'll also have to worry about final exams (and there's a chance you could also deliver earlier than your due date), that may be pushing it. I agree with the above about the first few months being exhausting, and I also remember experiencing pregnancy "brain fog" right before I delivered, which affected my grades. Having a child definitely won't destroy your medical career, but you have to make sure you plan for everything. Whatever you choose, best of luck to you!
