I am applying June of 06 and I am going to apply to some east coast schools. Now I have never ever been to the east coast except for Buffalo, do you think it might be in my interest to take a trip out there and show the admission people my face? I heard that it is always great when they have a face to go with the application.

My thing is cost and time and hmm COST 🙂 So would it be that beneficial to take a tour of the schools or could I just go on the internet and do some research?

THANKS!

Honestly, it's a waste of money. The Admissions people don't care about you. Researching schools online is perfectly fine. Plus, a lot of schools have virtual videos... so check those out.... the videos will give you a decent idea of what the school looks like

It's great that you are so proactive in your pursuit of a career in medicine, but visiting an admissions office on the east coast a year before you apply probably won't help much, but won't hurt you. if you have the money, i think it will be good to check out the schools first and see if you like them. But in terms of putting a face with the application, most likely they won't remember you or never even look at your file. For this purpose, I think it is a waste of money.

After interviewing at several places, I realize that location is very important, so do your research before applying. The internet will suffice for this purpose. If i'm not mistaken, you go to Davis right? Go to the ICC and look at the brochures and info on the first floor. Set up an appointment with Barbara or Linda to discuss your application and potential lists of schools. (They usually release a list of schools that have taken a good # of UCD applicants each year). Good luck with your future endeavors!

Fly to the East Coast to show your face? Most schools ask for a picture with the secondary application - that should be fine.

🙂 thanks you guys! No the reason I asked is because I had a couple of friends do the same, they got into CA schools but were worried about if they didn't get in....so since I am not at the TOP 🙂 I thought maybe I should do the same....YOU GUYS SAVED ME MUCHO DINERO 🙂

As for Linda Scott, I am familiar with the area you are talking about, I was thinking about taking a visit there next quarter, setting up that mail box I have to have for letters of rec and discuss where the hell i should start concentrating on applying to....

THANKS YOU GUYS!
