Hi All,

I'm looking to find some answers from people who have gone through the process of deferring admission to med-school. I was accepted to a US med-school during the 08-09 application cycle, however, due to unforeseen circumstances I was forced to defer my admission for the Fall of '09 to the fall of 2010. I just received the deferral letter and it states that I need to fill out another AMCAS application for the 2010 cycle as a "Deferred/Delayed Matriculant".

I have been trying to contact the admissions office yesterday but couldn't get through. Since I'm scheduled to leave the country in a few days, I kind of have to get this done before I leave. So, I am hoping someone on here will at least have an answer to my questions....!

- where exactly is the "Delayed Matriculant" option on AMCAS?
-will I need to send out another set of transcripts?
- also, will I need to send another secondary application?

Thank you very much for your time!!

Hey. I did this.

The 'delay/defer matriculant' option is in the same box with things like 'regular MD' admission. I don't remember exactly where, but I think it's where you select the schools (it's been awhile).

You'll probably need one more set of transcripts before the first day, my school did, anyway.

I'd imagine the secondary issue might vary on a school-to-school basis, but I didn't need to send another one in.

Hope that helps!
