hey i did a lot of searching but iam not able to understand this. in state of illinois it says that the scope of podiatry is foot, ankle and parts of lower leg that govern the function of foot.

Iam confused by the definition of lower leg. Does that mean anything below the knee joint is lower leg and or is it some few inches above the ankle that is considered lower leg.

So for states that have lower leg included, does that mean that Pods can operate on the bones of lower leg or its just limited to muslces and tissues of lower leg.

you'd have to find the actual law. there is usually more descriptive terms in the law.

And if it says parts of the lower leg that govern the foot it is talking about the ankle and muscles, nerves, arteries, veins that control the foot or supply the foot.

Just like the hand the foot has intrinsic and extrinsic muscles. Intrinsics are in the foot - muscle belly and tendon - 1 on the top of the foot and 18 (depends how you count) on the bottom of the foot. The bones separate the top from the bottom.

The extrinsic muscles are in the leg - infront of the leg, on the side (outerside) and behind the leg. The muscles in the leg all have some effect on ankle motion (some stability), some effect the subtalar joint, some the midfoot and some the toes.

I hope this helps a little.
