Delay in Step 2 CK score reporting - when to take??

Bombed Step 1 and was looking to improve on Step 2 CK in time to have it reported by Sept 1 for ERAS. The reporting delay till Sept 28 for tests taken between after Aug 3 and Sept 15 though has messed up that strategy.

Two questions:

1) best to use the extra time to study and book a later test date?

and maybe the one I'm more interested in hearing opinions on,

2) should I hold off on submitting my ERAS application till Sept 28 (with hopefully a better step 2 score) or just put it in Sept 1 with a low step one?

Based on those replies and advice from my school, I've decided to keep my original (later) test date, even though it will delay the score. I'm not going to wait on the step 2 score to submit my application, either.
