On the shadowing bit, you've already worked in an ED so can you tell me what insight you feel was missing after so many hours in social work in that environment or with hospice? Honestly, I'm not sure you need a ton of shadowing at all... maybe just some chat time and/or light shadowing outside of psych, EM, or geriatrics.

Your insights into social work address my concerns about community service exposure (please prove me right in your essays or interviews). Med schools generally love social work perspectives within their incoming classes. Good luck networking with the schools high on your list.

As for the shadowing, you are very correct and I was aiming for shadowing in other specialties. I was only able to get psych and EM shadowing because of my job connections. I appreciate your input!

Remember to apply to Nova MD and not their osteopathic programs! Those ones have had several concerning things crop up in recent years.
