Thank you so much for your quick response! You've eased a lot of anxiety I felt.On the shadowing bit, you've already worked in an ED so can you tell me what insight you feel was missing after so many hours in social work in that environment or with hospice? Honestly, I'm not sure you need a ton of shadowing at all... maybe just some chat time and/or light shadowing outside of psych, EM, or geriatrics.
Your insights into social work address my concerns about community service exposure (please prove me right in your essays or interviews). Med schools generally love social work perspectives within their incoming classes. Good luck networking with the schools high on your list.
Added- thank you so much! You could add these MD schools to your application:
Vermont
George Washington
Georgetown
NOVA MD
Tulane
TCU-UNT
Creighton
St. Louis
Loyola
Rush
For DO schools add MU-COM and UIWSOM.
You're right- I was thinking of Nova in FL but wrote Villanova for some reason 🤔 thanks for catching that.Just as an FYI, I do not believe Villanova has a medical school. Or at least I’ve never heard of them having one.
Remember to apply to Nova MD and not their osteopathic programs! Those ones have had several concerning things crop up in recent years. You're right- I was thinking of Nova in FL but wrote Villanova for some reason 🤔 thanks for catching that.
