I hope they throw the book at this guy.

And I think Ribseye is making some good points. I'm disappointed that several people are calling him a Troll. Maybe people are overcompensating for a position that, deep down, they are insecure about? Notice that Ribseye hasn't insulted anyone, yet he's being vilified?

Bullfighting is legal in Spain (repeatedly spearing an animal to death in an enclosed space!). Whaling (impaling and suffocation) is legal in Japan. Clubbing seals to death (arguably even more defenseless than this guy's dogs) is legal in Canada. Just because something is socially accepted, doesn't make it right. Just because someone disagrees with you, doesn't make them a Troll.

So you're going to argue that killing animals for food isn't right (hunters DO NOT just leave the meat laying in the forest)? We're just going to throw out millions of years of evolution because some idiotic hippies get a tear in their eye every time a hamburger is made? Yeah, F that. Ribseye's points are based on emotion and not logic.

ps. not a hunter, whaler, baby seal clubber

Pretty sure you are missing SBB's point... What they are saying is that in order to be considered a serial killer, you must kill 3+ people over a certain period of time. In order to do so, you must be intelligent to go undetected for so long.

The reason serial killers go undetected for so long is because they have no motivation to kill other than some kind of psychological gratification. Because they aren't killing spouses, family members, friends, etc there is no way to trace the killer to the victims making it extremely difficult to catch them. It has little do with intelligence and everything to do with a lack of pattern. Jeffrey Dahmer was an idiot in the way that he dealt with his murders. He left dead bodies to rot in plain sight in his house and kept body parts in his refrigerator. Obviously the killing was his number 1 priority, not evading the police.Yeah he was "charming" and well spoken and that got him out of a sticky situation or two, but that doesn't make him an evil genius by any means.

Bullfighting is awesome in Spain (repeatedly spearing an animal to death in an enclosed space, like a boss!).

Fixed that for you. How could I not comment on that given my s/n and current user pic.

LOL!   definitely!

I actually discussed this SDN thread with my classmates today. One classmate pointed out that they eat dogs in Vietnam/China and that he doesn't think it's appropriate to give 5 years per count of animal cruelty to this guy. The discussion just highlighted how cultural influences shape our concept of what is and is not acceptable.

I think there is a lot of value in this thread from analyzing where everyone chooses to draw their lines.
