Hello all,

I have been fortunate enough to receive a number of acceptances this cycle, one of which involves a half tuition scholarship. This scholarship is at a T20 school and I also have an acceptance at a T5 school. I was hoping to try and leverage this scholarship to perhaps receive some money from the T5 school. I was wondering if I should mention the name of the school from which I received the scholarship or not.

I'm not sure if it would hurt or help my chances seeing as it is still a very well regarded school, although some may not consider it a "peer" institution of the T5. I also don't know if outright mentioning the school goes against etiquette. Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Edit: I was also hoping to inform another T20 school about this scholarship. In this case, where the schools are of more similar reputation, should I mention the name of the school?

No, never mention the school by name. If your T5 school hasn't even given you your offer yet then I'd wait. Once you have two schools offers to compare AND you know for a fact your T5 school has merit aid / discretionary money, write to the dean and say money is a concern and you have competing offers. See what they respond with

ehhh, not really true. OP can ask and negotiate. At the very least, OP should ask.
