Research is definitely important, and you have that box covered. As noted above, a big piece will be ensuring that you have good connections through audition rotations. Talk with your mentors and see what you can do to get exposure at regional/national meetings.
Beyond that, everyone applying to ortho excels academically. Getting absolute straight honors may not be necessary, but obviously the more you get the better your application will look. Getting honors in surgery is of particular importance.
I really want to tell you that you're going to be fine and you can relax-- and odds are you WILL be fine. But ortho is just one of those fields where every year highly qualified applicants wind up failing to match. So you need to stay on top of your game for the next year+.
