Are there any dental activities predentals can do outside normal working hours (M to F 9 to 5) or is that pretty much impossible?

I am just wondering because I will be starting a new full time job and wanted to do a dental volunteering or activity in addition to my new job.

I am a nontrad and not in school btw

Some dentists work weekends, so that might be an option?

There are some schools that hold predental days on weekends or some clinics do volunteer events on weekends that you could help with. If you are looking for something other shadowing.

What I don't understand about dental shadowing is its hard to see what's going on. With medical you can see whats going on, but how do you shadow a dentist? Its not like you can be all in the patients mouth with the dentist and hygienist.

I think it depends on the dentist really. I have been lucky to have dentists take the time either before, during or after to help explain things to me, which was super nice of them. And the patients were patient enough a lot of the times to not mind.

I shadowed my personal dentist after an appointment. REALLY cool fellow, but just by the nature of dentistry I don't really see what I can learn from shadowing. It was more of just me asking a bunch of questions. Not much I could observe and learn from experience.
