was going through dental decks there are some confusing facts given

" cornerstone" of permanent dentition - deck says mand. 1 molar
- wheelers book says max. 1 molar


shape of occlusal surface of mand. 1 molar- deck says pentagonal
- wheelers says hexagonal



any inputs?????????????/

Decks agree with the ADA. This came up many times on old exam questions and the answer is pentagon.

Reason is bec the 3 cusps on the buccal and not in alignment but the lingual cusps are.

in kaplan shape of occlusal durface is..rectangular
while...crown shape is pentagonal

Ans:I Molar(can be either maxillary or mandibular).
First molars are considered as "cornerstone" of DENTAL ARCHES.The normal position of permanent first molar is at the center of fully developed adult jaw anteroposteriorly.
Four canines are placed at the "corners" of the MOUTH, helps in maintaining natural facial expression.

from developmental point mandibular molars have ( decks - 5 major cusp wheeler- 4 major)

for maxillary molars( decks- 4 major cusps , wheeler - 3 major)

decks are right..i think so

decks are right and occlusion cornestone is mandibular 1st molar, it is the first permanent molar in eruption process, so the rest of teeth take position acording to him. I hope it helps
