At least in my state, physician anesthesiologists need a permit from the dental board to perform anesthesia in dental offices. Does not apply to hospitals or surgicenters.

I assume it is related to how the facility is getting certified. Just an unnecessary money grab from the Dental board. If you are anesthetizing patients having dental work in an ambulatory surgery center I assume it cannot apply. I am not a California legal expert, but I doubt it would hold up in a court if someone sued them over it.
