Dental assistant in Michigan

Good morning.Had a question.I wanted to know if anyone who is a foreign dental graduate has worked as a DA in Michigan.How do you obtain your Xray licence?I havent come across any place that offers a xray course or x- ray licence for dental assistants.If anyone has more information about it,please do reply.Thanks a ton...

i am in michigan and looking to work as a DA.One place i contacted here said that they need someone with an xray certification and i m not sure how to get it.thats why i posted this question.have not yet received a single response as yet, quite disappointing .Requesting anyone who has worked as a DA to share their experience.thanks.

hi,
As long as know, it depends on the clinic. Try some other clinic of your own country person. You just request them for helping them. Not specially for x-ray. You assist them on the side of the chair, sterilise the instruments ets. Give your resume to more than one clinic.

Follow this link to see a list of dental assisting schools and their phone numbers. The best way to find out would be to call the schools and ask. You probably have to take a radiology course, or at least take a written and clinical exam to be certified. Perhaps the schools can lead you in the right direction.

Yahoo I can't believe that you need this. Try another office. Once you say you can learn this fast if they like you they will hire you. I think they just wanted someone that already knows the drill. When you are browsing the net for DA jobs make sure you choose the ones with" we are willing to train".

DA position is not difficult to get. Get hold of yellow pages and call the dentists in ur area or chk local paper. go through Michigan dental association web site for info abt x-ray certification. If called for interview tell them that ur interested in certification.

Snigdha, u said that i shud tell them that i am interested in certification, if called for an interview.Is that the radiology certification that u are mentioning ?
i was called for interview at a clinic and was told that they prefer someone with "DA" experience and radiology certifcation.and they all want to know if i am in the process of applying to dental school to requalify as a dentist. also if i am going to apply to schools to be a dentist then why do i want to work as a da is the question asked .
And Marapotzu, i havent come across as any ad which says "we are willing to train". Shall keep my eyes open , thank you.

Ya I was talking about X-ray certification. If you are applying to dental schools tell the interviwer that it would be atleast 1-1/2 years before u' ll be in school.GIve them ur reasons for applying to da job, like finances or US experience and UR A Dentist how difficult could be a DA position.
