I don't think you can get a job as a dental assistant without someone sponsoring you. But it will be hard to get such a sponsor because I doubt immigration will count assisting as a skill. As far as I know, I think you can only work for free here without a working permit. Unless you are a student and your visa permit you to work on campus, like in the teaching hospital dental clinic. But how do I know?😛

You can work as a dental assistant if you have a working visa or if u are a green card holder or citizen which automatically entails u a work permit. Some states can let u volunteer as assistant but many ask for the above requirements even to work as a volunteer(meaning no pay).
To look for a job would be in local news papers or careerbuilder.com

if you have permit call your state board and ask what do they require for working as DA i mean may be radiology license (and thats very easy just giving exam in one week ) thats extremely helpful .then I had sent my resume through career builder . If you have no work permit one can always walk in dental office and talk to doc. that you just want to see how dentistry is different in states, there will be hardly anyone who does not let you see. also don't forget to take recommendation at the end of 1 month at least. I hope this was what you were curious about??????????
just as long as you have a valid employment authorization document (EAD) or a green card (GC) you can apply for a dental assisting position. they are very strict with documents. i went to a couple of interviews before i got my first job and everyone of them asked if i have a valid work permit.

for the information.i live in NY state. my husband who is doing the residency and in the same hospital i asked 4 the DA job and they said I can work as a voulnteer,so guys I am working as avoulnteer --twice a week.
Also,I can only work 4 the full time job as DA if I have the work permit or green card.

Hey, I was going though the ADA web site and one of there pdf documents for international dentists says that the job opportunities for International dentists are- dental lab tech, dental assistant , dental sales or dental education. It said foreign dentists can work as dental assistant. Buy if you are in California, most dentists would require you to become a registered dental assistant or have a radiology license. To become registered as a Dental Assistant you will have to join a school for a 8-10 month training program and then get registered.

IF YOU GUYS LIVE IN PHILADELPHIA,GO AND ASK THOMAS JEFFERSON HOSPITAL [MAXILO FACIAL DEPT].I used to work over there last 4 years ago.They can apply H1 for you.Can you believe this?Yes it is the truth because I worked there.They liked using foreign dentists as a dental assistant [more helpful]Hurry up.👍

where can i get those books ? can i study at home and give the exam or do i need to join a course?

Frankly ..you may get some experiance on how is the system working her , and some miner skills that you will masetr in two days....believe me..
dental assisting thing is nothing but servant job ,cleaning,disinfecting,sterlizing ...doing this ..... not.. that
even old ladies in the practice start to throw every exhausting job on you,trying to get some revenge.
looking for the dentist whose incharged as if he is the one and only...the intelligent man or woman..
and by time yo will forget about your self
you may go and join as an observer,to get to know whats going on but....please don't look for the dental assisting thing as a dream ...for you ........colleagues
