Has anybody read any good books about business or practice management? I'm looking for some recommendations.
I don't know of many books specifically meant for dental practices, but i have read a significant amount of business books in my time... here is a solid list of business books, and a brief synopsis, that would most certainly apply to a dental practice (in no particular order):
A Few Words from the Chair by Clow - A patient's point of view about dentistry and practice management.
The E-Myth Revisited by Gerber - Basic overview of small businesses and why they fail or succeed.
Good to Great by Collins - Case studies of successful companies and what they did to find success.
Tribal Leadership by Logan, King, and Fischer-Wright - How to be an effective leader and maximize productivity of groups.
7 Habits of Highly Effective People by Covey - How to organize and prioritize your life/business and teaches one how to manage time effectively.
How to Win Friends and Influence People by Carnegie - Basic rules on interpersonal communication and making people feel valued.
Little Red Book of Selling by Gitomer - Tips and tricks of sales and influence.
Delivering Happiness by Hsieh - How to establish a company culture of happiness/fun and examples of great customer service. Follows success story of Zappos.com.
I have read dozens more, but feel these are the most fundamental and will give you the best return on investment while reading.
