I am starting to look at where I want to practice after graduating dental school and cant decide which town. Has anyone ever ordered a Demographic report? I see some on the web from Scott McDonald, Henry Schein, and the ADA can put one out by counties as well. Just checking if these demo reports are worth investing in. Thoughts? Or a good solid reference where you can look up the exact number of dentists in a given county? Thanks

TE Demographics was started by a couple of students who graduated from UMD Baltimore last year. I've seen their reports and they are extremely thorough and much more meaningful than many other reports that I have seen. Nice personal touch, too. No idea how much they charge, though.

Scott McDonald does a very thorough job. I would spend some time doing your own analysis and narrowing your options. Get a map and plot out the dentists in the area.

Thanks, Ill check into that TEDemographics. From what I've seen, Scott McDonald could be pretty solid... I have done a lot of my own research, but thats why I'm thinking of looking for other resources. I haven't found a good source for the number of dentists in an area. All info I find is conflicting. AFTCO may say there's 25 in a zip, ADA may say there's 12, yellow pages may look like 35.... kinda all over the place and not reliable. Does anyone have a good free source for the number of dentists in a zip code or city?

Just make sure when he asks you if you are Mormon you say yes. He is Mormon and like our lovely Mormon Dental and medschool classmates have their own internal docs they only share with other Mormons. One of the first questions Scott Mcdonald will ask you during s phone consult is, “are you LDS?” Just read up on it and say yes. Their church considers non-Mormons to be inferior and will condone dishonesty toward them in business. They refer to it as “lying for the lord”. The best demographic reports are reserved for active Mormons.

You obviously have been gravely misinformed.... One persons business conduct does not in any way, shape, or form mean those are the standards or practices of their Church. It is disappointing to see someone act in this manner regardless of their religion, but in no way does it reflect what “Mormons” believe. The Mormon church/community do not condone dishonesty. On the contrary they believe in being “honest in all their dealings with their fellow man”.

Dentagraphics is very highly recommended among online startup groups. They'll send you a free sample report of a random city just for you to analyze and see how thorough their report is.
