Hey all!

So I'm still looking around for the "perfect" loupes ... really struggling to take the leap and part with those hundreds of dollars really. anyway, came across this site with a guide on what's what about loupes so thought I'd share since I'm here most days reading the forums

Check it out: www.dentalloupes.com.au

just out of curiosity, what are people spending on their first pair of loupes? I'd image I'd buy a nicer pair when I graduate and actually making some sort of money

Thanks!

Assuming your not trolling for that website....

just spend the money once and get a nice pair now that you can use when you graduate. I spent ~$1,500 for 3.5 EF, scratch resistant, prescription lenses, buddy holly frames from Designs for vision then ~$400 for Featherlight Optics light. IMO, the light is 10x more important than the strength of the loupes. I am 110% satisfied with DFV.

Thanks for your reply Doc Smile, as much as I'd love to buy a pair heine's at the moment, I'm afraid I cannot afford the $1,500 or so price tag. do you know if they offer student "payment plans" ... i remember reading somewhere that another company does this?

the prescription inserts are probably a good investment at the moment but i imagine I can just wear my contact every time we have clinic since we only do so about 3 times a week ... inserts are something I'd like to get down the track as i'm more comfortable with my glasses

btw, gonna read your blog now, sounds pretty cool, surprised you find the time to do this after at this stage of your life too, good on ya!

ALSO! down here in Australia LED Headlights don't seem to be something thats ever mentioned really, most dentists settle for the loupes alone. but the more i read online i more i find US students and dentists swearing by much they've changed their lives.

I know this is big ask, but i figured since you write a blog anyway, are you able to post pictures for what the view is like with and without the headlights? maybe of a frasaco model/denture etc. i know there are many pictures online but they're all by other companies as you know so a set of real pics would be awesome! there's an idea for your next post!
