Does dental school make you go bald? They say that stress can do many things to ones body. One of those being hair loss. Losing my hair is a big fear of mine. I even have nightmares about it. So is there any correlation between the stress experienced in dental school and hair loss?

Propecia and Rogaine should be used for prevention first and if that fails join

the hair club and you also have that spray thing i've seen in infomercials but

I think it melts when it rains.

Agreed........hair in a can is the way to go. If your scared that it will melt then I guess that you could lather on a second coat of wax or something.

And of course if you want to cut your losses before all your ahir goes, many of the soft and hard tissue lasers that we use in dentistry nowadays can be used for hair removal! 😱 😉 😛 😀 😳

Mendelian inheritance. Blame it on your mama! Check your pedigree. The baldness gene is inherited from your mom!

"The gene appears to be autosomal dominant in males and autosomal recessive
in females. This means that some other gene or genes must be influencing the
way the gene is expressed.

Males who have just one copy of the gene will, of course, also have one copy
of the corresponding non-baldness gene, since all our genes occur in pairs.
In other words, these males are heterozygous for the gene. Such heterozygous
males do have baldness, according to this theory.

A female who is heterozygous, with one baldness gene and one non-baldness
gene, will not be bald. She can still pass the gene onto her sons and
daughters, but a woman will not be bald herself unless she inherits a
baldness gene from both parents. In such a case she would be homozygous for
the baldness gene.
"

Only bad dentists go bald. Allow me to prove my point with logic. Frank Spear is a good dentist. Frank Spear is not losing his hair. Ergo, if you are losing your hair you must be a bad dentist. That's logic.

I don't know about hair loss but I've noticed that being even in the general vicinity of a dental school causes major fat retention around my mid-section.

It doesn't matter if you're already married/engaged/etc. 🙂

Besides, baldness is actually good for certain aspects of dentistry. For example, if you want to do ortho just think about it: most orthodontists are balding (or bald) which is why ortho programs require applicants (at least the male ones) to be bald. So it all becomes a matter of perspective really...

lol - haven't seen many non-bald ortho eh?

if my dentist has that halo- baldness pattern thing going on, does that mean he's a good dentist or a bad one? or is he a good dentist only for the people he likes? also, if you're afraid of going bald later, why not grow out your hair now, cut it, make a wig out of it and then you'll have your own hair for the rest of your life!! then if people ask you if it's really your hair or not your can say, "why of course it's my own hair!!"

Actually the rumor is true. I'm starting to lose hair like a sheep

LOL. I had a professor who was trying to convince himself that he wasn't losing his hair (he was starting to). He kept going on in class about how his friends were losing theirs then he goes, "hey i'm not losing my hair," to which a classmate responded, "no you're only gaining forehead." The class erupted! That was a funny day!
