Do you find that students with lower GPAs generally have other parts of their application that compensate? In general, what are these compensations? High DAT? Many hours of dental experience? Dental "mission" trip?

Hello Free99,

Thank you for your question!

Yes, you are absolutely right. While most applicants have a strong combination of high DAT score and GPA, those who do not, usually have other strong areas in their application such as volunteer work, dental work experience, higher education or anything else that make them stand out.

Lower GPA with a high DAT score could easily be explained. There are many factors that could affect the GPA and if they are clearly explained in the personal statement/ interview one could have a great chance to convey that he is academically qualified for the rigorous curriculum in dental school despite his/her lower GPA.

Hope that this has answered your question.

Once an applicant gets to the interview stage, do you feel like applicants become more likely to be on "equal footing" with other applicants who may have higher numerical scores where the interview is the part that makes the big difference? Thanks!

Hello rebelwithacause,

Thank you for your question.

At the stage of the interview, an excellent interview can make a significant difference. Although I cannot say that the other academic credentials do not play a major role in the decision, there is no-doubt that the interview has a major impact on the final decision.

We do have numerous applicant that their great interview has got them an acceptance without being "academically qualified" as other applicants with higher stats. Bottom line, as you assumed, saying the "right" things on your interview can have a meaningful impact on your chances of getting into dental school.

Hope that has answered your question!

Thanks so much Sharon!

I'm also wondering what you think gives your company the edge in interview preparation over any other interview company. Are the dentists on your board faculty at schools? Otherwise, what would give them more insight into what the admissions committees like to see that practice interviews with the dentists we are shadowing wouldn't give us?

Additionally, who reviews the interviews and gives us feedback? What are their qualifications?

I know these are hard questions, but thanks so much for being so helpful!

Hello rebelwithacause,

Thank you again for all of your questions.

To answer your questions, the dentists who works for us got accepted to at least 6 different dental schools in the U.S and the majority of them have worked in faculty/ admissions positions in dental school in the past.

What makes our service unique is our experience and knowledge. Over the past 7 years we have tested the best responses to the dental school interview and have evaluated what really works and what does not. We have talked to numerous admission faculty members to find out what exactly they are looking for in an ideal candidate and what qualities and goals would make one stand out on his/ her dental school interview. We have learned how to guide our students in explaining any weakness in their application and converting them into positive advantages.

Our results speak for themselves! over the past 2 years we have had over 500 acceptances to dental schools with raving reviews. We are the only company in the U.S that specializes only in dental school interviews and not in all health professional interviews. We provide a service that we are expert in, that is, getting our students into dental school

Hope that has answered you question.

Sharon
