Who here has successfully gotten private funding while in dental school from an organization? Where is a good place to go online to seek these out -- either a general site or specific organizations... (there are SO many sites its hard to get solid info without wasting huge ammounts of time).

Thanks!

Well, I did a lot of searching and applying for scholarships before I started dental school. I wrote something like 20 essays and wasted huge amount of time in doing so. However, I did not get anything from anybody or any organization. If you're not a minority (say, hispanic, african-american...), there's only a slim chance of getting private scholarships.

The good news is that you can ask the school you're going to about school-funded scholarships. At least that's what I did and got my ~12000/yr. The essay I submitted to my school was the only one that made actual money for me. Hope this helps...

Thanks for the info. Unfortuantly i'm not a minority but I figure I will try 5 scholarships or so with at least 2 being school sponsored or closely tied. Any suggestions on where to look?
