Hey guys,

So I'm trying to come up a list of schools for my application next cycle. I have 2 questions I would love some help with, first, I'm a Canadian, so I would be applying as an international student. I'm just wondering would it be worthwhile for me to apply to state schools at all? I know they usually don't accept OOS student, not to mention an international student. But one of my friend got into Texas SA 😳 (She did her PhD in dental health, and I'm finishing up my PhD developing dental materials) So I'm just wondering how strict are they on their resident only rule?

My second question is as for my school choices, I would prefer research-orientated school first, otherwise the cheaper the better. So the school's I'm thinking about applying to is:
1. Harvard (for their research, but would I have a shot at all?😛 Are there any other schools that are big on research? Do Columbia, UPenn have lots of research going on? If I can conduct dental research over the summers that would be awesome 🙂)
2. UoP (for their 3 year program)
3. Howard, Tufts (I am a minority)
4. Are there any cheaper private universities?
5. NYU (I heard they accept a lot of international students)
6. Rest of private schools (except for the ones that rarely accept international students)

Thanks for any help! 😀

Hi Nick, sounds like you've gathered a lot of good information! Depends on your stats, I think you can land some interviews based on your list. (except I'm not sure about TX schools because I'm OOS and did not apply there. However based on the stats in ADEA guide, there were only a small... I mean tiny amount of OOS students).

University of Minnesota has a great research program! But it is pretty pricy for OOS which is why they have a decent OOS acceptance rate
