Hi all - I'm applying for the first time this upcoming cycle. Do dental schools offer tours? Tufts website says they give tours, has anyone been on one before?
I haven't been to Tufts, but I think that it isn't a bad idea to tour some of the schools that are close enough to drive to in order to decide if you want to apply there or not. Although, in reality, a majority of applicants won't step foot inside the building until the day of the interview so I wouldn't say you're at a disadvantage if you don't tour them.
I know that here at Marquette, you can call Brian in admissions and set up a time to talk with him, be shown around, and have any questions answered. He is really good about letting people come to see him year round. If you want a student to show you around, he can find someone to do so...I have given tours for people in the past.
columbia was the only school that i spoke to which allowed me to go on a tour before i applied. in all other cases you would get the tour when you were offered an interview.

New Jersey's dental school has sort of a open house day every year and you may be able to set something up at Penn because our pre-dental ASDA has set up tours there a couple times. Don't know about the latter, though... maybe they were making allowances for Penn kids only.
I don't know about Tufts, but I recently went on a tour of UCSF with my school's PreDent club. From what I heard, our "president" called them and asked and they were pretty nice about it.. We got a tour of the school from two D1 students and a powerpoint presentation with their director of admissions. The two students who gave us the tour were really nice and answered lots of questions. I would imagine if you call the school and ask for one, you will get it..
