I got the dui (misdemeanor) when I was 22 (2007). I am a former combat veteran from the Usmc with an honorable discharge. I got the dui when I was on leave and made a big mistake by going behind the wheel. a very big mistake that i deeply regret everyday... it was my first offense with the law besides some speeding tickets..I did aa/dui classes/mothers against drunk driving course/ and community service. How much will this affect me getting into dental school? I plan on transferring to UCSD next year and should be done by 2014. Any advice wil be greatly appreciated.

I had the same situation, got a DUI when I was 21, enlisted Army Infantry - diversion program through the sate, AA for 2 years. Just report it. They will probably want you to get a letter form the court saying what the charge was - dismissed, dropped, reduced, etc. Has never come up. Best of luck.

It might not affect dental school admission, but it might affect applying for an hpsp scholarship if you plan on continuing military service. Overall, they are really cracking down on ARI (alcohol related incidents) in the military and many times they are called "career enders."

Not sure if it will affect applying for a dental license, but everyone with a dental license is 100% squeaky clean.

As long as you guys remain upfront about anything on the record, you will be okay. They might not love it, but they will respect the honesty.
