So I don't think this information will really be relevant anymore as CO 2023 will be taking the INBDE, and not NBDE part 1/2, as can be seen here:

@artist2022 is right about the NBDE.

For other board exams like the CDCA, I suggest emailing your desired schools and asking their admissions team since they’ll have the most up to date info for you.

OMG so it means.... Class of 2023 will be the first who will all be taking INBDE ; ( gunea pig!!! ; ( ; ( ; (

It seems like improvement per the description, but new things come with new errors and problems...this is a bit concerning. So since this is combining part 1 and part 2 at once, does it mean students will be only taking one test at the end of the D4 year?

Was the original NBDE was also pass or fail? no scores?

Original NBDE are pass/fail, you only need 75% to pass. If you plan to specialize, you need to score a lot higher.

Yes the INBDE information sheet says it is pass or fail, and also they don't report any score. So...ADAT or other special test has to be taken to specialize?

Not true. Many schools will have 2022 as the first class to taking INBDE. Also, a few previous classes have taken INBDE in addition to NBDE1/2 but INBDE just didn't count for them. So while there will not be as many formulated study materials, those that have taken INBDE have stated that it was easier than NBDE 1/2.

It seems like it is "optional" to take INBDE for class of 2022 so that they can choose which they want to take? (old or new)
You mean, many dental schools are "requiring" their class of 2022 students to take INBDE when they don't have to?

I have seen reports that past students who took NBDE1/2 who also "participated" in taking INBDE- I thought the purpose was to see how the score matches form old version to new version for same student? (to see if old and new versions are some what comparable?) like pilot sample tests.

Did old NBDE1/2 test takers with pass scores got their actual number score reported? (like 80% 90% etc)?
It seems like the new version will not have anything other than "pass" which means doesn't matter if you score 99 or 75.

I was talking about the old NBDE parts I and II (see image I posted), they do report your actual percentages on ADA I believe after you take your exam. That person took the exam this summer.

Almost all dental schools in US are currently undergoing curriculum reform to match with standards of INBDE, so I can't really tell you a lot.

They don’t report them any more to say residency programs. Stopped a few years back. Why do you think they started with the ADAT. All programs see if whether you pass or failed.

You do what your school's curriculum and administration have designed. You don't specifically get to choose which/when you take your exams. Some schools take NBDE part 1 after D1 some after D2... So yes, many dental schools will have c/o 2022 to be the first class taking INBDE.

Oh I see. Thanks for letting me know. I guess the decision to take old or new one is up to schools not to students.

You only get an NBDE score if you fail. If you pass you dont get a score.
