I could definitely use some braces.
Which schools offer reduced/free dental care to students?

Or we could just answer his question...
Everything is free at BU; ortho, perio, endo, restorative, crown n' bridge (except lab fee). These treatments are not limited to pre-doc clinic, but post-docs too. Endo, ortho, and aegd residents also provide these services for free if you are a student.
About 1/4 to 1/3 of my class (including myself) who needed braces or Invisalign got it for free.

Temple: Pretty much everything is free except for the price of metal - for a crown or an inlay/onlay.
Ortho: $189 for U and L arch invisalign (TOTAL), 1200-1500 for real braces I think.
Should I go ahead and list out all of the schools then? 😛
Does this mean 1/4 to 1/3 of your class comes from a disadvantaged backgrounds?Everything is free at BU; ortho, perio, endo, restorative, crown n' bridge (except lab fee). what is considered a disadvantaged background these days? dental education as know it is getting very very expensive, so I guess everyone is disadvantaged.Does this mean 1/4 to 1/3 of your class comes from a disadvantaged backgrounds?
Judging by the time I've recently spent on the pre-dent forum, "disadvantaged" apparently includes anyone whose parents do not finance their every momentary whim, and any dentist who earns less than eleventy bazillion dollars a year and/or elects to work more than two days a week.what is considered a disadvantaged background these days? dental education as know it is getting very very expensive, so I guess everyone is disadvantaged.
anyways, 1/4 to 1/3 of my class were candidates for ortho treatment, and they go it for free! IF the entire class needed ortho tx, they would get it for free too.
I know someone from my class who needed multiple work from various departments; endo, ortho, pros, etc. If this person had the work done outside the school, it would be easily $20-25k, but he ended up paying about $500.
I guess I'm just surprised that 1/4 to 1/3 of your class had bad teeth.what is considered a disadvantaged background these days? dental education as know it is getting very very expensive, so I guess everyone is disadvantaged.

I thought it was me, but you do have a weak and odd sense of humor. You implied in your earlier post that having "bad teeth" = "disadvantaged people".I guess I'm just surprised that 1/4 to 1/3 of your class had bad teeth.
Don't be mad at me. Be mad at your parents who couldn't get you braces when you were little.I thought it was me, but you do have a weak and odd sense of humor. You implied in your earlier post that having "bad teeth" = "disadvantaged people".
Ask any orthodontist what an ideal teeth should look like. He/she would almost always recommend some level of ortho tx to most people. So the suggestion is usually "should", not "must" - unless its apparent.
If ortho was available to you at no cost (even if you think you don't need it) - a consult could say otherwise, and you would end up taking the offer (free invisalign or braces).
That's enough attempts at inciting class warfare, please.Don't be mad at me. Be mad at your parents who couldn't get you braces when you were little.
