how hard is to get into specialty after dental school? cz i am seriously considering podiatry school since it guarantees a surgical residency after podiatry school. Your opinion will be much appreciated. Thank you very much in advance.🙂

I don't think a surgical residency is guaranteed after podiatry school is it?

Yup. After podiatry school. there are two types of residency. Podiatric surgery and medicine -24 months ( you are trained on forefoor and midfoot surgery). second one is podiatric medicine and surgery-36 months ( you are trained on entire foor and ankle surgeries.....and i think part of tibia too.) what abt dental school? how hard is it to get a specialty after dental school? who makes more money dentist or podiatrist? cz i woudnt mind doing either one of them. Please give me your opinion. thanks.

I think feet are cleaner to work with than mouth. No sputum and all that gooiness. But I wouldn't mind doing either one of them. Which one is better? cud u give me pros and cons of podiatry and dentistry? 🙂

I'm not a dental student yet, but since everyone is giving you a hard time, I can tell you what i know. Most dental specialties are very competitive. Orthodontics, OMFS, endo, and perio are the toughest. You have to be in the top 10 percent of your class and ace the boards if you want a shot at any of these residencies. Obviously the competition in dental school will be quite tough to make it in the top. So if you wouldn't be happy as a general dentist, then don't go to dental school-- specializing is never a guarantee. Hope this helps.
