Hi guys,
My friend just finished high school and she is soooo confused about what to study. She is lost between dentistry and physician assistant!! I know this is irrelevant to what you discuss here, but I told her I will ask you here to see what u think!! What do think is better in terms of job opportunities, future opportunities , life style, and everything!!!!????

Thanks,

Tell "her" it's ok to be confused. She doesn't have to figure it out till college. That's what college is largely for anyway. Luckily, dental and PA prereqs are largely similar, so while she takes those classes, she should shadow dentists and PAs to explore both fields. Good luck.

Most people aren't totally positive what they want to do their first year of college. If she really wants sme help making the decision, tell her to shadow both for a few days and see what lifestyle she enjoys more.

PA's have the opportunity to treat a wider variety of patients and illnesses, but are under the license of a doctor. In the end the doctor has the final say on everything. PA's also run the risk of being on call, depending on the specialty.

Dentists only work with things relating to the mouth and teeth, but at the same time are very independent. If you're the dentist, you decide what treatment happens. Also, the more artistic types lean toward dentistry, and those that want more flexible hours.

Is she cute? Worst comes to worst she can marry me. Haha I'm Jm but she's gotta take gen eds (waste of times) no matter what she does. Also tell her to go to med school not settle for being a pa if anything.
